🗳️Vote Early All Week! Action Alert - August 10, 2026

The single most powerful word in our democracy is the word, "We." "We the People." We Shall Overcome." "Yes We Can."...Oh, what a glorious task we are given, to continually try to improve this great nation of ours.

President Barack Obama

Selma, Alabama, March 7, 2015

Early Voting Is Now! New Beach Site

Early Voting for the August 18th Primary Election started last Friday and runs through Sunday, August 16th. Twenty-four polling locations --- including the Beaches Library and a new site at the Jax Beach Community Center --- are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m daily. Registered voters can vote at any of these sites during Early Voting. Find information on voter ID requirements and how to vote here below the list of polling locations.

You can also drop off your Vote-by-Mail ballot at a secure drop box at any of these polling locations until the end of early voting.  If you choose not to use your mail-in ballot, you can vote in person. Election Day is August 18th --- voters who wait until then must vote at their precinct, and the only drop-off location that day will be the Supervisor of Elections' (SOE) office at 105 E. Monroe Street, Jacksonville.

What's On the Ballot?

DEMs and GOP voters will choose candidates to represent their parties in the November General Election. DEM races on the Beaches primary ballot include U.S. Senate, U.S. House District 5, Governor, Chief Financial Officer, and Commissioner of Agriculture. In addition, all voters, including Independents, will find three nonpartisan races on their ballots: School Board (Seat 2), County Court Judge (Groups 1 & 13), and a special election to fill a vacancy on the Jax City Council (At-Large, Group 1 seat).

Need Help?

Find information on the primary election and candidates in BAM's online Election Guide. You'll find info on candidate endorsements, issues, and how to get involved with Hands Off Our Vote, Indivisible's national voter protection initiative. Plus three resources to help you make your choices: the Blue Voter Guide, Jax Today's Voter Guide, and Vote 411.

Don't sit this one out! Make a plan to vote and take advantage of Early Voting. Be a part of the pro-democracy blue wave we need to hamstring the last two years of the Trump administration!

"We" Can Boost Turn-out!

Turn-out is the key to victory - especially in Primary elections which usually attract only a fraction of the voters who show up in November. After two full days of early voting, less than 4% of Duval's eligible voters have cast their votes. With fewer people showing up to vote, our success in turning out like-minded voters in Duval County and across Florida could create some rare victories.

Each person reading this Alert is an influencer among your various circles of family & friends. After voting yourself, the most important contribution you can make to restoring our democracy is to reach out to your circles and urge them to use their votes in this essential election. Thanks to the steady drumbeat of bad news out of Washington, many people are disgusted and ready to give up. We owe it to our vision of a better future to remind those closest to us that their vote IS their voice - and now is their time to be heard.

At a minimum, share BAM's voter guide, or remind people how easily they can get good information from sources like the League of Women Voters' Vote 411. Encourage everyone you know to make a plan to vote THIS WEEK - and shoot them another text, call, or email before August 18th to confirm they did!

Good News of the Week

In a week that saw Trump's lawyer and enabler, Todd Blanche confirmed as Attorney General of the United States, it may be hard to find reasons for optimism apart from the knowledge both the House and Senate are in recess.  But here are several:
