We Keep Learning

One of BAM's top priorities is to keep ourselves and our neighbors informed about the people and issues shaping our state.

Our monthly meetings take place the 2nd Thursday of every month. Pre-Covid those were held at Adele Grage Community Center in Atlantic Beach. Currently we are meeting via Zoom.  Recent meeting topics include:

  • The debate over Lot J

  • Meet Councilman Rory Diamond

  • Covid & the broader Health Care scene

  • JEA & the Half Cent Sales Tax fight

  • Election Security issues in 2020

  • Race, Accountable Policing & a "People's Budget" for Jacksonville

  • Ways to take action for election 2020

We also organize candidate and issue forums.

And we partner with other like-minded, progressive groups to coordinate voter education and outreach activities at the Beaches and beyond.

Our Focus for 2021

Here's what we are working on in 2021:

  • Actively lobbying our elected representatives in Washington to support the many progressive reforms of the Biden-Harris administration

  • Closely following the Florida Legislative session and writing and calling our representatives on the issues that matter most to us

  • Preparing to monitor redistricting efforts both statewide & in Duval County to support fairness and prevent more anti-democratic gerrymandering

  • Promoting vote-by-mail registration & renewals through texting, phonebanking and postcarding

  • Expanding voter outreach and education through social media and Letters to the Editor

  • Supporting local, state and national candidates who align with our progressive values
