Protect the Vote 🗳️- Action Alert, July 6, 2026

Protect the Vote

Trying to nationalize elections. Mid-decade redistricting. Tightening voting restrictions. Eliminating mail-in voting. Questioning prior election results. Weakening election security. Trump and his GOP enablers are mounting a full-out attack on rules governing the 2026 midterms and future elections. Their goals are clear: to protect Republicans from losing control in November and sow doubt about the integrity of the election process when DEMS win. While the courts and Congress have stopped many of these efforts, Trump is not backing off --- he is threatening to hold up bipartisan legislation and the budget until the Senate passes the Save Act, widely described as the "most restrictive anti-voter bill" ever considered by lawmakers. Trump touted the bill in July 4th remarks and promised Republicans they would not lose an election for the next 100 years if they acceded to his demands.

The chief champion in the Senate for Trump's plan is FL Sen. Rick Scott. Scott is pushing to end the filibuster to enable passage of the Save Act, despite widespread opposition within his own party. Florida is one of a dozen states that have already enacted similar laws --- our law goes into effect in January 2027 --- restricting Floridians' right to vote. With the midterms looming, and the 2028 Presidential election soon to follow, we must fight back. Take action this week to protect the vote!

  • Let FL Senators Rick Scott and Ashley Moody know you expect them to protect voting rights and give a thumbs down to the SAVE Act. Reach their offices through the Capitol switchboard (202.224.3121) and use the script from 5 Calls.

  • Join Indivisible's Hands Off Our Vote 2026 voter protection initiative, a 50-state effort to counter election threats and ensure all eligible voters get to cast their ballot, and that those ballots get counted. Stay informed and be ready to take action!

  • Sign up to be a nonpartisan poll watcher here in Florida or --- if you are a lawyer --- a voting rights legal monitor using this form from Election Protection Florida with Common Cause.

  • Join BAM and a coalition of voting rights organizations July 17-19th for the Make Good Trouble Weekend of Action. Get more information and sign up for Teach! Reach! Preach! events using the link in the article below. Help call attention to the fight for voting rights and current threats to suffrage.
