Tomorrow is Election Day!
Tomorrow (Tuesday, August 18th) is Election Day! It's your last chance to vote in the 2026 Primary Election. When you vote tomorrow, you must vote at your assigned precinct --- click the link and enter your address to find your polling site. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Find voter ID requirements and how to vote here below the list of early voting locations. To return a Vote-by-Mail ballot, you must drop it off at the Supervisor of Election's Office (SOE) at 105 E. Monroe Street by 7 p.m. today. There are no drop boxes at the precincts on Election Day.
What's On the Ballot?
DEMs and GOP voters will choose candidates to represent their parties in the November General Election. DEM races on the Beaches primary ballot include U.S. Senate, U.S. House District 5, Governor, Chief Financial Officer, and Commissioner of Agriculture. In addition, all voters, including Independents, will find three nonpartisan races on their ballots: School Board (Seat 2), County Court Judge (Groups 1 & 13), and a special election to fill a vacancy on the Jax City Council (At-Large, Group 1 seat).

Help Boost Turn-out!
Turn-out is the key to victory - especially in Primary Elections which usually attract only a fraction of the voters who show up in November. At the end of early voting, about 12.2% of Duval's eligible voters have cast their votes. Turnout data from the Duval Supervisor of Elections Office (SOE), shows a dramatic drop in Vote-by-Mail ballots submitted to date (less than 20,000 compared to more than 46,000 in the 2022 midterm primary), with a modest increase in early voting turnout (59,146 in 2026 compared to 58,422 in 2022). New state laws now require voters to request a mail-in ballot every election cycle, where previously, requests were valid for three years.
DEMs are currently outpacing GOP voters by about 10,300 votes, about twice the margin in the 2022 primary. Independents, meanwhile, are lagging in early voting turnout in 2026 compared to the last mid-term primary (3,658 vs. 4,238).
This makes Tuesday's turnout critical --- our success in turning out like-minded voters in Duval County and across Florida could create some rare victories. But we won't be successful if people don't vote.
Each person reading this Alert is an influencer among your various circles of family & friends. After voting yourself, the most important contribution you can make to restoring our democracy is to reach out to your circles and urge them to use their votes in this essential election. Thanks to the steady drumbeat of bad news out of Washington, many people are disgusted and ready to give up. We owe it to our vision of a better future to remind those closest to us that their vote IS their voice - and now is their time to be heard.
At a minimum, share BAM's voter guide, or remind people how easily they can get good information from sources like the League of Women Voters' Vote 411. Encourage everyone you know to make a plan to vote on Tuesday - and shoot them another text, call, or email before polls close at 7 p.m. on August 18th to confirm they did!

Get Ready for 2027 Local Elections!
The best way to get progressive candidates elected to the Jax City Council? Strategically recruit and support them with data and resources well before the election!
BAM members learned about the efforts of Momentum Jax to identify and invest in the next generation of city leaders at our August meeting last week, which featured Executive Director Austin Belet and Field Director Nico Tedrick. The group spent the last year talking to voters who don't usually turn out for city elections to find out why and pinpoint their concerns. The results show these voters are looking for a city council that actually addresses their needs (potholes! street lights! neighborhood safety!) and spends less time on politics. They have also had enough of the scandals and bickering, and value transparency. Moné Holder, running in the Jax City Council At-Large, Group 1 special election on the August 18th ballot, is among the candidates backed by the group.
