You Marched. You Rallied. Now Stay Involved!

Despite gusting winds and drizzling rain, nearly 6,000 Jacksonville area residents gathered downtown for the No Kings 3 march and rally last Saturday afternoon to demand an end to the tyranny of the Trump administration and the restoration of our democracy. The diverse crowd heard from speakers decrying war, attacks on voting and civil rights, and cruel mass deportation efforts. More than 30 organizations offered information on issues and voting. The peaceful protest was one of more than 100 in Florida and 3,300+ across the country and world. We joined 8 million people in declaring: No Thrones. No Crowns. No Kings.
We are deeply grateful to all of you who attended, volunteered as Peace Keepers, Safety Marshalls, and Medics, donated money and other resources, and supported this effort in so many ways. Thanks to all of the hard-working members of the Jax No Kings Coalition, including our sister Indivisible groups, 50501 NEFL, and 50501 Vets --- it was truly an amazing collaboration. We heard so many positive comments from first-time participants and veteran protesters alike!

Stay involved! It is going to take sustained action to turn this country around. Next week, join us at the April 9th BAM meeting as we debrief on No Kings 3 and turn our attention to the 2026 midterms and what it will take to engage Florida voters. Our popular and knowledgeable guest speaker is Dr. Sean Freeder, director of the UNF Public Opinion Research Lab. Bring a friend, your questions, and get ready for a lively discussion. Let's come together, keep up the momentum, and build on the energy of No Kings!
Beaches Library Protest Kicks-Off No Kings 3

Beachfolks and neighbors -- 800 strong! -- turned out Saturday morning to kick-off No Kings 3 at the weekly Beaches Library protest! Sign-wavers stretched for six blocks on both sides of the street. It was an incredible sight, with honking horns, a lot of thumbs-up, and only a few middle fingers. Join us again next Saturday at 10 am!
Advocate This Week!
Despite failing to pass compromise funding for DHS that would rein in ICE, Congress is headed home for a two-week break. That means members are back in their districts ostensibly to hear from their constituents. Let's oblige by telling them what we think:
Pay TSA, Rein In ICE. The Senate offered a compromise to carve out TSA and other agencies while continuing negotiations on guardrails for ICE and CBP, but the House gave it a thumbs down. Tell Rep. Rutherford to do his job and rein in ICE and CBP. Even his fellow law enforcement brethren are having second thoughts about aiding and abetting cruel immigration enforcement in the state. Reach him locally at (904) 831-5205 or email him. Remind him he's on the ballot in November.
Stop the SAVE Act. According to his latest newsletter, FL Sen. Rick Scott is "continuing his fight" to get the SAVE Act passed in the Senate. Despite unfounded claims to the contrary, there is no evidence of widespread voter fraud, the alleged impetus for the bill. The SAVE Act is designed to block eligible people from voting, not to protect elections. It will disproportionately impact women, seniors, low-income voters, and people of color. Let Scott (and fellow senator Ashley Moody) know you don't support his efforts to suppress the vote. Reach them while they are home: Scott's Tallahassee office, where they usually answer the phone (850.942.8415), and Moody (904.354.4300). Follow up with an email by clicking on their names. Sign the Petition for FL Medicaid Expansion: Florida Decides Healthcare has re-launched its campaign to get Medicaid expansion on the ballot. If you haven't already filled one out recently, request a petition, sign it, and return it in the stamped envelope provided. Medicaid expansion would help close the gap and provide coverage for up to 3.7 million people — working families, parents, and caregivers who are currently locked out of affordable care.
