Action Alert - October 17, 2022

"Never doubt that a small group of committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." -Margaret Mead

Beaches Activists Are On Fire!

In a political season that's making all of us nervous, there is great comfort to be found in the work of this group. Thanks to the nearly 500 concerned citizens that make up BAM, we are making a difference this election year in several ways:

1. BAM volunteers postcarded more than 2600 Duval Dems! Our meeting at Adele Grage last Thursday was the finale of BAM's biggest postcarding outreach to date. We've sent a Get-out-the-Vote message to more than 2400 voters in Duval Council districts 1, 3, 4,

11 & 13 -- all registered Dems "inaccessible" to canvassers because they live in gated communities or secure apartment buildings. Thanks to everyone's hard work, we've

reminded them of important issues on this year's ballot, provided voting information & a link to our Voter Guide. Thanks to Brenda Wray's careful management of cards & postage and more eager volunteers, we had enough left over to deliver the same info to nearly 200 newly registered Dems here in our own District 13.

2. Your donations have fully funded our Social Media GOTV plan. Thanks to all who contributed to our ongoing social media outreach campaign, we're boosting ads on both Facebook & Instagram designed to educate & motivate voters who might otherwise skip a midterm election. Reaching across the county to keep Duval blue!

Getting Out the Vote Starts At Home

If you've already voted by mail, congratulations! Now you can focus on making sure your like-minded friends & relatives are voting as well. If you're still contemplating the candidates & the issues, we continue updating our 2022 Election Guide. Check for new links on the judicial races and amendments & share this with friends.

For more on our local races, remember BAM also has a Beaches-specific Election Guide with a video of our Mayoral Forum and links to the Candidate Questionnaires submitted by all the mayoral and Commission Candidates.

Beaches Democratic Club: Brittany Meet & Greet Plus How To Help Beaches GOTV

Our friends at Beaches Democratic Club are meeting tonight at Adele Grage (716 Ocean Blvd) at 6:30 pm. If you've not yet met Mayoral Candidate Brittany Norris, this is your chance. In addition, come and learn about all BDC's plans to get out Beaches voters this election. Register here & bring a friend!

If you can't make the BDC meeting, you can also meet Brittany on Wednesday, 10/19 between 3 & 5 pm at the home of Carolyn & Elliot Zisser. Mayor Ellen Glasser will be there to introduce her. RSVP to cohost Susanne Barker.

Meet Adam Hattersley -10/20 6:30-8 PM

Moving from local politics to statewide office, this Thursday offers a chance to meet Adam Hattersley, the Navy veteran and author who's running against incumbent Chief Financial Officer, Jimmy Patronis. Adam will be available in person to answer questions and explain the critical role of the CFO, especially considering the insurance and housing crisis we face in Florida, now compounded by Hurricane Ian. More info & RSVP here.
