What's Next
President Biden's decision yesterday to step aside and not seek re-election was difficult and selfless. His leadership and empathy were the antidote the country - and the world - needed after four years of Trumpism, and his administration has created a record we can all be proud to defend at the polls. There will be many tributes in the days to come, but we've highlighted one of the best below. The President's strong endorsement of Vice-President Kamala Harris offers the DEMS a path forward to quickly unify the party. We will win in November because of his transformative policies and accomplishments. It is time to coalesce and focus on defeating MAGA.
If there was a shred of doubt about what's at stake in 2024, Donald Trump's acceptance speech at the close of the Republican National Convention last week dispelled it. Despite promises to promote unity in the country, the now-anointed nominee offered a litany of grievances, lies, planned retributions, and insults. The selection of J.D. Vance as his running mate and the bizarre line-up of speakers further confirmed a commitment to the party's extremist base. But most revealing - and alarming - is the 2024 party platform (we love this annotated version!) which lays out the vision for his second term: continued erosion of reproductive and LGBTQ+ rights, militarization of the border, defunding and vilifying public education, and reversing President Biden's most successful economic, social and environmental policies. The blueprint for implementing the platform? Project 2025. Want to know more? Check out The People's Guide to Project 2025 compiled by Democracy Forward.
This election is a choice between two fundamentally different and competing visions of America. One is about control. The other is about respecting and nurturing our individual strengths and differences. It's up to us to share our vision with our friends, family, and neighbors. There are things we can do right now to make a difference: Get Out the Vote to pass Amendment 4, elect School Board members who support public education, and flip state House District 16. Act now!

Canvass at the Beach: Help the Beaches Dems & BAM reach out to Democratic voters who tend to show up for the General Election but are inconsistent voters in other elections. No experience necessary. We'll be canvassing August 3 and 10 from 3:30 - 5 p.m. Sign up and join us.
Voter Outreach for School Board Races: Public School Defenders Duval County and Families for Strong Public Schools need our help with voter outreach in key School Board races with Moms for Liberty candidates. DEMS Are Determined to Win!
We had a record crowd at last weekend's Amendment 4 Super Saturday Day of Action postcard event! Beaches Dems, BAM, and Jax NOW joined forces and more than 50 activists - both young and old - showed up to send 800+ postcards to voters - whose petitions supporting the ballot measure were rejected - to remind them to check their signatures and voting status, and vote in November! Thanks to everyone who participated! Jax NOW still has more events planned in the upcoming week in other locales. Find out more here.
