Show Up! Labor Day Protest at St. Johns Town Center

Join 50501 NEFL, BAM, and other progressive organizations at the St. Johns Town Center on Labor Day --- tomorrow morning (Monday, September 1st from 10 a.m. to noon) --- to remind Trump and his MAGA adherents that the real power lies with the people who work to keep this country moving, not the wealthy few who profit off our labor. While billionaires get richer, working people everywhere are still struggling to make ends meet. This Labor Day, a day meant to honor workers, we’re gathering in one of the busiest parts of our city to make our voices seen and heard. The local protest, part of the Stop the Billionaire Takeover national day of action, is one of more than 1,000 taking place across the country. Let's do our part to make sure it is our biggest demonstration yet --- a rejection of the corrupt, anti-democratic actions of this administration.
Bring your signs, your loudest voices, and especially your friends. Please consider a donation of needed hygiene and toiletry items for the Jacksonville Mutual Aid Coalition. The central meeting point is St. Johns Parkway and MidTown Parkway (in front of Wells Fargo). Click here for a map and RSVP here for more info and updates. Rain or shine!
Demand Action Against Gun Violence

Yet another mass shooting --- the 286th recorded in the U.S. this year --- took place at a church service for Catholic school students in Minneapolis last week, resulting in the death of two children and the injury of 17 others. Lawmakers at the federal and state level continue to prioritize the gun lobby over the lives of school children. Inaction is not an option. Here are some ways you can speak out in the wake of the latest horrific attack:
Urge Congress to pass common-sense gun regulations. 5 calls makes it easy with messaging and contact information for U.S. Senators Rick Scott and Ashley Moody, and Rep. John Rutherford. Call today.
Support Moms Demand Action's efforts to kill the federal concealed carry law & pass the GoSAFE Act. Send this message urging Congress members to oppose the federal concealed carry law (HR 38 and S 68), and this message demanding they co-sponsor and support a ban on assault weapons (GOSAFE Act - H.R.2790 / S.1370). Share these links with family and friends!
Contribute to Moms Demand Action's advocacy work in Florida. You can support Advocacy Day at the Capitol and other legislative efforts by donating to the Gun Safety Action Fund (Florida Chapter link). Click here for information about how to get involved in the organization locally.
