Indivisible Mandarin will host two virtual webinars in February featuring Ida Eskamani and State Senator Audrey Gibson speaking on the proposed anti-protest bill, and key legislative issues.
On February 16 at 7 p.m., Eskamani, public policy director for the Florida Immigration Coalition, will discuss Gov. DeSantis' push to silence protest and dissension with HB 1/SB 484: Combating Public Disorder. The ACLU of Florida "opposes this bill because, since the protests of last summer, it was designed to further silence, punish, and criminalize those advocating for racial justice and an end to law enforcement’s excessive use of force against Black and brown people."

One February 23 at 6:30 P.M., Senator Gibson will provide a legislative update and offer advocacy tips. Senator Gibson is Vice Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee which will likely review proposed SB 484—Combating Public Disorder (anti-rally bill). She also sits on several other committees where various bills, including a super-majority requirement for a single-payor healthcare system, election suppression/reform bills, educational vouchers for charter and private schools and many more policy areas, will be debated.
