Wednesday, 9/14 @ 6 PM - Charter School Zoom Briefing

Charter schools are an increasing fact of life in Florida. As this alternative to public education continues to grow, NOW education chair Susan Aertker suggests several measures to add accountability to that part of our educational system. Join her Zoom briefing to learn more about the need for tighter regulation on charter schools to protect the public tax dollars spent there and ensure quality education.

BAM - Meet the Candidates & Mayoral Forum! Thursday, 9/15 @ 6:30

Don't miss BAM's first in-person meeting of 2022. We're gathering this Thursday in the theater at Adele Grage (716 Ocean Blvd, Atlantic Beach) at 6:30. We'll have a Q&A session with the 3 candidates for Mayor of Atlantic Beach, and a chance to meet and speak directly with the Council & Commission candidates running in Neptune & Atlantic Beach. A great opportunity to reunite with old friends, make new ones, and learn more about the visions and skills of the many excellent candidates vying for local office.

We'll have activities for kids, and light snacks for young & old. In the evening's spirit of community engagement, please also plan to bring a donation of school supplies for our local grammar schools. Click here for a full listing of needed items. Weather permitting, we'll have a door open, but masks are welcome if you have Covid concerns. RSVP for the meeting here. To submit a question for possible inclusion in the Q&A, email us here.

Saturday, 9/17 International Coastal Cleanup

This Saturday hundreds of thousands of volunteers across the world will join in a global effort to clean up coastlines, lakes and rivers. In last year's Jacksonville Cleanup 523 volunteers picked up close to 5 tons of debris. It's one satisfying way to show our love for the natural beauty that surrounds us - with a few hours of simple, tangible action. Timing of the various efforts varies with location. Click here to see the full schedule and pick your spot to pitch in!
