Action Alert - June 20, 2022

Updated: Jul 5, 2022

“Frankly there is no idea more un-American than the notion that any one person could choose the American president,” - Mike Pence

January 6 Hearings Continue to Impress

Last week's third Congressional hearing by the January 6 gave "chilling" new inside details of how close the Vice President came to the violent mob and how few of the people advising the President believed in his claims of election fraud or the legitimacy of his plan to challenge the results. If you've missed this chance to see democracy in action, catch the sessions you've missed on Youtube. Or check out AP's summary of key findings.

Two more hearings are scheduled for this week. The first tomorrow, June 21, at 1 pm EST, with another starting the same time on Thursday, June 23. The Tuesday hearing will include testimony from GA Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger and his deputy. If you like the idea of watching in company with other progressives, Broward for Progress is hosting Zoom Watch Parties. Sign up here.

According to a recent ABC News poll 6 in 10 Americans believe Trump should be charged for his role in the Jan 6 violence. Tempting and justified as that may be, this thought-provoking opinion piece will make you sympathize with Merritt Garland's tough decision.
