Action Alert - November 15

"The vote is the most powerful instrument ever devised by man for breaking down injustice and destroying the terrible walls which imprison men because they are different from other men.” - Lyndon Baines Johnson

Duval Dems' Field Plan & Ways to Get Active Now

If you missed last week's BAM meeting you missed an excellent presentation by Duval Dems Chairman Daniel Henry. You can screen that Zoom meeting here. Or just jump in on some of the activities Daniel highlighted for us:

Speak Out Against DeSantis Anti-Health Agenda

Florida Policy Action Network has joined with Florida Council of Churches to generate opposition to bills proposed for this week's special session. The session was called by Gov. DeSantis to block public health measures in response to the Covid pandemic. You can use their model letter or easily edit it with your own concerns & ideas. Click this link and speak out!

Tuesday, November 16 - Livestream Opposing the Anti-Abortion Bill (HB 167) @ 7 pm

Join a panel of experts discussing Florida's plans to adopting a Texas-style abortion ban. The event will be livestreamed on the Women's March Jax Facebook page. To join via Zoom, register here and receive a link.

Thursday, November 18: Atlantic Beach Fundraiser for Donna Deegan

As you know, Donna Deegan formally announced her run for Mayor of Jacksonville last week - and immediately the political pundits started wondering if she could possibly compete with the Republicans (both declared & undeclared) who already have millions in their warchests. If you want to meet Donna, and help level the playing field, consider this local fundraiser hosted by BAM members Katherine Davidson & Susan Hughes from 5-7 pm.

Monday, November 22 - AB Votes to Close Legal Loopholes & Better Protect Our Trees

If you love our tree canopy - and good government - let the Atlantic Beach City Comission know before next Monday. That's when they are scheduled to consider Resolution 21-62. This resolution would not only tighten up enforcement here in AB but supports legislation to clean up the loopholes in municipal tree ordinances across the state that have led to countless lost trees and lawsuits.

Forward this post to a friend & be sure you vote!
