Action Alert - December 11, 2023

Celebrate the Season With Us Thursday, Dec.14!

Join us for the annual BAM Holiday Party this Thursday, December 14th at 7 p.m. at the Adele Grage Cultural Center in Atlantic Beach!

Celebrate the season with kindred spirits and like-minded friends. We'll have a few special guests, live music, and back by popular demand, a sing-along featuring a few very irreverent carols! You won't want to miss this!

Bring a friend or two, an appetizer to share, and an unwrapped toy or non-perishable food item to donate to Beaches charities. We'll supply the sweets and the fun! We are looking forward to celebrating our victories in 2023, and getting ready for another round of success in 2024!  RSVP here.

Down to the Wire: Get Abortion on the Ballot

Keep those petitions coming in Congressional District 5! Our count jumped by 5,000 in a week and we have 20 days left in the final push to put abortion on the ballot in 2024.  According to Floridians Protecting Freedom (FPF), 77% of the required petitions statewide have been validated, up from 69% last week. The group is shifting its focus to collecting the remaining petitions needed in congressional districts that have not met the threshold for signatures required by state law.

Click here for the latest information on priority districts, and how you can help collect and encourage people to sign the petition. The site includes organizer resources, information on events, and a link for phone banking to likely petition supporters in these districts. While CD5 is not on the priority list this week, we have been encouraged to continue our efforts to collect petitions, as well as help in other districts that are close to meeting threshold requirements.

If you haven't signed a petition, click here to download, print, sign, and mail one TODAY.  Share this link with your families and friends and enlist their help in reaching out to our connections further south! Thanks to all the BAM members who turned out for the Jax NOW postcard event at the beach last weekend. 3000 cards sent to young women voters in St. Johns County!

BAM members Roz Hoffman, Elizabeth Sams, Judy Sheklin, and Carol Brady joined outreach staff from the Duval County Supervisor of Elections (SOE) at Frank A. Peterson Academies last week to register students to vote. State law allows teens aged 16 and above to pre-register before their 18th birthday. Email us if you'd like to join us in supporting future school-based voter registration drives. We appreciate the opportunity to partner with the SOE!
